The Spanish coach left his post as head coach of FC Barcelona last month after a bittersweet tenure, statistically he is the best manager at the club ever he has a better win percentage than the Great Guardiola he also won 9/13 trophies, why doesn't he receive the kind of praise he deserves?
Firstly, during his tenure he despised the finest academy in Europe he rarely had faith in the boys selling some, some out on loan such as the case of Munir who was on top form even scoring in the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla who was sent on loan to Valencia as part of the deal to sign Paco Alcacer who in my opinion he have performed better than if he remained at the club.
Players such as Sergi Samper, Hallilovic, Marc Bartra, Sandro Ramirez, were all shipped out for no tangible reason and particularly Bartra was a fantastic young player who is doing well at Borussia Dortmund and the worst aspect is the he was sold for peanuts.
He also changed the teams style, shifting from the traditional tiki-taka to a more direct style of play which heavily relies on the 'MSN' and after Pedro departed no one else has been a good alternative. In matches where the MSN were not at their best, the team usually becomes a 'toothless bulldog'.
He failed with his rotations, few times it paid off, most of the time he hugely rotated it largely backfired, in my opinion I think he usually rotated the wrong players in the wrong matches let's take take game against Alaves earlier on in the season he choose to start Jasper Cillesen despite clear signs that Jordi Masip was more ready and prepared, he also dropped Iniesta, L. Suarez and Messi to the bench a gamble which backfired and handed the 3 points to their opponents.
Another area he failed badly is failing to properly replace key players who left, Xavi, Pedro, Dani Alves. Particularly that of Dani Alves and Xavi left a huge void in the team that's why they failed to land the Champions League for the past two seasons. The team largely played without a true Right Back last season and with Andres ageing Arda Turan, Andre Gomes and Rafinha are not bossing the midfield the way they are expected to.
