Ter Stegen: VS The Best Keepers (Stats Analysed)

There is no doubt that German goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is having his best season so far in his career. The former Borussia Monchengladbach goalie has kept 18 clean sheets in 29 appearances in La Liga, meanwhile he had just 13 clean sheets in 36 last season. For the analysis, I will compare Ter Stegen's numbers with those of Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid and David De Gea of Manchester United, they have equally been outstanding. The first thing you'll notice is that Jan Oblak and Ter Stegen lead De Gea by far when it comes to Clean Sheets, they both have more clean sheets despite having played a game less. In the Average goals conceded in the league, Jan Oblak is slightly behind Ter Stegen who has conceded 0.45, while Oblak 0.48 and De Gea is once more far behind with 0.77 per game. De Gea's defense would be that Barcelona and Atletico have a better defence this season, although Manchester United has a bus (hahaha) In terms of saves per game, De Gea tops with 2...

Barça scouts watched him in the recent International friendlies and are also monitoring his Ajax teammate Justin Kluivert. Ajax are likely not to let him go easily, he made his first team debut for Ajax in 2016 and was UEFA Europa League : runners-up in the 2016-17 season.

Valverde: Messi's Injury Is Not Serious

Lionel Messi may have missed Argentina's friendlies against Italy and Spain during the International break, But Ernesto Valverde has played down talks that the injury is serious. The Coach said; "Messi finished the last match against Athletic Club and it is true that he has a few minor problems," he said during the presentation of the 14th edition of the book 'Relatos Solidarios del Deporte' on Tuesday. "I am calm because we believe that it is not important at all. "We won't worry beforehand, let's see what he has exactly."

Digne Likely To Miss Copa Final

Barcelona left back Lucas Digne was stretched out against Colombia while playing for France and has been diagnosed with an abdominal injury. Digne is to miss Barcelona 's games against Sevilla, Leganes, Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna in LaLiga as well as the Champions League double- header with Roma. He is expected to return just before the Copa del Rey final on April 21, although he is unlikely to feature in the game.

Messi Injury rules him out of Spain game

A muscle fatigue in his hamstrings and the adductor has ruled Argentina Superstar Lionel Messi out of playing against Spain on Tuesday night. Despite having completed two training sessions on Sunday and Monday respectively without any problem, the issues came up again on Monday night.Though he was going to be given until the last possible moment to prove his fitness, it's already clear that the Argentine captain can't play. The problems already prevented him from playing the friendly against Italy, however, it was Messi's intention to start against La Roja. "My idea is to play against Spain," he said to Fox Sports on Monday afternoon. "I was left with the choice to play against Italy and didn't, but I trained normally, I felt good, so I hope to play." But the desire of thousands of fans to see him will not be fulfilled. Except for a huge surprise at the eleventh hour, Messi won't play at the Wanda. The Argentina coach is already working on o...

What Happened to Paulinho?

Have the goals for FC Barcelona's top scoring midfielder this season dried up? Paulinho hasn't scored in his last 16 matches for Barcelona neither has he assisted any goal, after scoring 8 in his first 25 games. His last goal came in the 4-2 away victory over Real Sociedad at the Anoeta. He however scored for Brazil in the friendly against Russia on the 23rd of March. FC Barcelona will be hoping he returns to his scoring ways soonest. He however has not looked very comfortable when asked to play on the right side of the midfield. He has looked sharp in the past few games, he's just lacking the finishing touch.

Griezmann signing? Good or Bad (Opinion)

Griezmann's Barca links keeping getting stronger as the day passes. By Chizalam, chizalam@fcbnewsnow.com.ng It is no longer a secret that FC Barcelona are interested in signing Atletico Madrid's Forward Antoine Greizmann. The French International has largely impressed since he joined Atletico from Real Sociedad for a fee in the region of €30m in 2014. According to reports, Greizmann's release clause will drop to just €100m in the summer. For a player of his calibre that would be a steal. Business-wise, i feel signing Greizmann would be a masterpiece, The problem however, is that currently he isn't needed at Barca. Barcelona already boast of a start studded attacking unit comprising of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, Ousmane Dembélé, Phillipe Coutinho, (Jose Arnaiz). Even when Barcelona play with a front three with all the attackers starting Phillipe Coutinho is usually asked to play in his less favored position (Center midfield). With four reliable attackers, why do Ba...

Umtiti Barca Future Uncertain

Barcelona Center-half Samuel Umtiti has been a subject of interest from Europe's big guns, Owing to his Impressive performances for Barcelona. There are reports that Manchester United are keen to make a move for the Center Back this summer after it was revealed that he has just a €60m release clause. FC Barcelona are desperate to tie him to a new deal with a higher release clause. As part of the Telefoot program on TF1, the French international took part in a jovial questionnaire game in which he was given the option of answer yes, no or joker to each question. Using his joker option would be a way of essentially passing on the question, and this was his response on two separate occasions when quizzed on whether he would renew at the Camp Nou or sign for Manchester United. He joined in 2016 from Lyon for €25m.

Barça will select a new captain in the summer

FC Barcelona's former fourth captain Javier Masherano left for China in January. The Club have however, decided not to appoint a new fourth captain until the Summer just before the pre-season preparations begin. The current Barça captains are in this order Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. The captains are appointed by popular vote within the squad. Andres Iniesta himself may depart in the Club which will mean Lionel Messi will be promoted to main captain while two more captains will be elected. The candidates for the fourth captain spot include Gerard Pique, Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez. Pique's chances may be hurt owing to the fact that he's outspoken and very controversial. Ivan Rakitic is seen as a more solid option, he has captained Sevilla and the Croatian National team in the past, he joined in 2014.
