The Rise Of Dembele

The Rise of Dembele Much was expected from Ousmane Dembele after he moved from Borussia Dortmund for a 105m euro transfer fee a club record at the time. Following a stellar season where he scored 10 goals and provided 21 assists. He made his debut for Barcelona as a second half subsitute at the Camp Nou assisting Luis Suarez for his teams fifth of the night versus Espanyol. In his next game and first start for Barca away to Getafe he injured his hamstring and was ruled out for four months. He was given the medical green light on 2 January 2018 to return to action. A couple weeks later, he again injured himself against Real Sociedad and was ruled out for up to four weeks. Valverde rarely handed Dembele starts and the most painful example was in Rome when Barca were 2-0 down and needed a goal but he was not called up. The few opportunities handed to him he failed to really make any meaningful impact, he would attempt a dribble then lose the ball and his de...

Former FC Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez was the man spearheading the move for De Jong however, since his departure FC Barcelona has not made much contact to De Jong with Eric Abidal now in charge and it seems the Frenchman favors his countryman Rabiot. Barcelona Vs Alaves Player Ratings

FC Barcelona started their La Liga campaign with a 3-0 victory over Deportivo Alaves at the Camp Nou. This is the player ratings Ter Stegen 7/10 Didn't have much to do but he was solid. Semedo 6/10 Solid defensively but didn't offer much of an attacking threat. Taken off at half time Jordi Alba 8/10 wonderful defensively and offensively. Came close to scoring himself. Umtiti 8/10 Spotless performance Pique 7.5/10 Solid at the back Sergio 7.5/10 Kept things tidy Rakitic 6.5/10 looked a bit rusty and gave the ball away more than usual. Became better as the game grew. Sergi Roberto 7/10 Started in midfield before reverting to right back. Was solid Dembélé 7/10 combined well with his teammates and looked confident on the ball, could've scored twice. Needs to improve on his finishing. Suarez 6/10 Was simply wasteful and rusty. Riqui Puig: The next Iniesta?

Ricard "Riqui " Puig MartĂ is a Spanish football player who plays for FC Barcelona B. A central midfielder who is 1.69m tall, slightly less than Messi at 1.7m and Iniesta at 1.71m. He joined La Masia in 2013, after progressing through the youth teams he was finally promoted to FC Barcelona B and made his debut he made his senior debut on 24 February 2018, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 1–1 home draw against GimnĂ stic de Tarragona. The 18 year old was selected by Head Coach Ernesto Valverde for the USA pre season tour and made his debut against Tottenham while donning the No. 8 shirt previously worn by Club legend Andres Iniesta. He played exceptionally well but it was his performance against Milan that won hearts. Maybe after Rafinha he has been the best Barcelona player during the pre season. Will he end up becoming a key player at the club? Only time will tell

Barca Sign Vidal for €20m

FC Barcelona has secured the services of former Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal who joined in a €20m deal. The 31 year old Chilean almost made a move back to Italy to sign for Inter but changed his mind when Barca came calling. The main objective for the former Juventus midfielder is to win the Champions League with Barcelona having lost the 2015 final against Barcelona. He comes as a direct replacement for Paulinho who left for China.

Barca To Make Shock Move For Bayern Midfielder

FC Barcelona are reportedly considering a shock move for FC Bayern's midfielder Arturo Vidal. The 31 year old is a similar player to Paulinho who left earlier in the transfer window. Head Coach Ernesto Valverde is said to be sad at the departure of Paulinho and would want a move for the Chilean. Internationalze are already in contact with the midfielder regarding a move and FC Barcelona want to hijack the deal. The Catalan club would have to pay a fee in the region of €30m to land Vidal. Some reports suggest that the Club has already agreed personal terms with the player.

Barca Turn To Signing Thiago

A creative midfielder is what FC Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde feels is the final addition needed at the club right now. After the departure of Andres Iniesta and Paulinho, Barca are still eyeing another midfielder even after Arthur joined from Gremio. Pjanic was seen as the ideal signing but Juventus refused to entertain offers. Another option is Adrien Rabiot of PSG, with PSG refusing to let him leave, Barca are looking at alternatives such as Thiago. It is believed that Bayern will accept an offer in the region of €60m as coach Niko Kovac does not see Thiago as a key member of the squad. The problem however is that some at the Club do not believe in resigning players who forced themselves out like Thiago did in 2014 to Bayern. Ernesto Valverde feels Thiago is the ideal player to replace Andres Iniesta.

Barca To Face Roma After Snatching Malcom

The picture above is one which every Barcelona fan won't want to see. It is a picture of Manolas celebrating after scoring the goal that knocked FC Barcelona out of the Champions League last season. AS Roma and FC Barcelona go head to head in the ICC fixture in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday 1st August by 3am WAT. The fixture comes after FC Barcelona signed Malcom after it was almost certain he was headed for Rome. He is expected to play against Roma. Marc-Andre Ter Stegen also joined the group and could play. Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes are still injured.

Barcelona Sign Malcom

FC Barcelona has completed the €41m signing of Brazilian winger Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira from Bordeaux. The news was announced by the Catalan Club late on Tuesday 24th July. The player joined the Catalans after almost completing a move to AS Roma just 48 hours before. The winger has been described as a mix of Willian and Neymar Jr by some. His dribbling and trickery will certainly be enjoyed by the Barcelona faithful.

Barcelona Close In On €41m Malcom

After seeing 2 bids for Chelsea star Willian turned down, FC Barcelona have turned their attention towards Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira who looked almost set to become a Roma player. AS Roma already announced a deal was in place with Malcom. He scored 12 goals and laid 8 assists during the 2017/2018 season for Bordeaux. He's a great dribbler of the ball, left footed. Physically, He is 1.71m tall and weighs 68 kg, but once away he can only be stopped by fouling him due to his ability to run with the ball.

Real Sociedad Interested in Barca Youngster

Real Sociedad are interested in signing highly rated Jose Arnaiz, who they want to bring in to reinforce their forward line. The Basque Club are reportedly hoping the Catalans lower their €12m asking price. Real Sociedad face competition from Getafe, Valladolid and Girona for the player. There is no way though that Sociedad would pay 12 million, the same amount that they have splashed out on Mikel Merino, who had played for Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle in the past. "At the moment we have no negotiations ongoing with any player," said Real president Jokin Aperribay, to show the state of play. Real have also pointed to the groin injury that Arnaiz had at the end of last season to try and get a lower figure.

Barcelona V Roma Referee named

Dutch referee Danny Makkelie will be the man in the middle during FC Barcelona's Champions League Quarter Final first leg against AS Roma at the Nou Camp. The 35-year-old has never before taken charge of a match involving Barcelona although he did referee a Spanish team in the previous round at Old Trafford as Sevilla won 2-1. He has issued 15 Yellow cards and two red cards in his last 5 games.

Messi to the rescue

Barcelona ace Lionel Messi was named among the substitutes due to his hamstring problem, against Sevilla. But 57 minutes later Ernesto Valverde called on his star player. In the first half Barcelona's attack looked lost. Suarez was all over the place no real player as the center forward, Coutinho losing the ball many times same goes to Dembélé who showed great footwork, but fancy footwork don't win games. As soon as Messi came on for Dembélé, Barça's toothless attack now became a threat. In defense, Jordi Alba's attacking minded play often left Barcelona exposed at left back, both Umtiti and Pique were equally shocking. Sergi Roberto wasn't great either Ter Stegen could have done better with both goals. Sevilla dominated the midfield thanks to a superb performance from N'zonzi and Ever Banega. Sergio Busquets was clearly missed, Rakitic is no Busquets, Busquets is no Rakitic, they complement each other so well and you could see Rakitic missed his partner go muc...

Ter Stegen: VS The Best Keepers (Stats Analysed)

There is no doubt that German goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is having his best season so far in his career. The former Borussia Monchengladbach goalie has kept 18 clean sheets in 29 appearances in La Liga, meanwhile he had just 13 clean sheets in 36 last season. For the analysis, I will compare Ter Stegen's numbers with those of Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid and David De Gea of Manchester United, they have equally been outstanding. The first thing you'll notice is that Jan Oblak and Ter Stegen lead De Gea by far when it comes to Clean Sheets, they both have more clean sheets despite having played a game less. In the Average goals conceded in the league, Jan Oblak is slightly behind Ter Stegen who has conceded 0.45, while Oblak 0.48 and De Gea is once more far behind with 0.77 per game. De Gea's defense would be that Barcelona and Atletico have a better defence this season, although Manchester United has a bus (hahaha) In terms of saves per game, De Gea tops with 2...

Barça scouts watched him in the recent International friendlies and are also monitoring his Ajax teammate Justin Kluivert. Ajax are likely not to let him go easily, he made his first team debut for Ajax in 2016 and was UEFA Europa League : runners-up in the 2016-17 season.

Valverde: Messi's Injury Is Not Serious

Lionel Messi may have missed Argentina's friendlies against Italy and Spain during the International break, But Ernesto Valverde has played down talks that the injury is serious. The Coach said; "Messi finished the last match against Athletic Club and it is true that he has a few minor problems," he said during the presentation of the 14th edition of the book 'Relatos Solidarios del Deporte' on Tuesday. "I am calm because we believe that it is not important at all. "We won't worry beforehand, let's see what he has exactly."

Digne Likely To Miss Copa Final

Barcelona left back Lucas Digne was stretched out against Colombia while playing for France and has been diagnosed with an abdominal injury. Digne is to miss Barcelona 's games against Sevilla, Leganes, Valencia and Deportivo La Coruna in LaLiga as well as the Champions League double- header with Roma. He is expected to return just before the Copa del Rey final on April 21, although he is unlikely to feature in the game.

Messi Injury rules him out of Spain game

A muscle fatigue in his hamstrings and the adductor has ruled Argentina Superstar Lionel Messi out of playing against Spain on Tuesday night. Despite having completed two training sessions on Sunday and Monday respectively without any problem, the issues came up again on Monday night.Though he was going to be given until the last possible moment to prove his fitness, it's already clear that the Argentine captain can't play. The problems already prevented him from playing the friendly against Italy, however, it was Messi's intention to start against La Roja. "My idea is to play against Spain," he said to Fox Sports on Monday afternoon. "I was left with the choice to play against Italy and didn't, but I trained normally, I felt good, so I hope to play." But the desire of thousands of fans to see him will not be fulfilled. Except for a huge surprise at the eleventh hour, Messi won't play at the Wanda. The Argentina coach is already working on o...
